Kermit ISD Statement Regarding Recent Allegations

The Kermit Independent School District is currently investigating allegations of misconduct involving staff members and district students. We understand that such reports can cause concern throughout our school community, and we take these matters extremely seriously. Upon learning of the allegations, the district immediately followed established protocols. The staff members have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a thorough investigation. The district has also reported the allegations to state and local regulatory and law enforcement authorities. We are fully cooperating with the appropriate authorities as a review is being conducted.

At this time, no conclusions should be drawn. What the district can confirm is that there is no allegation that has been brought to the district’s attention that a student has been struck by a district employee. We respectfully ask our students, families, staff, and community members to avoid speculation or public commentary that could interfere with the investigative process or impact the privacy and well-being of all individuals involved—especially our students and hard-working staff members who have no involvement with the current situation. It is highly unfair to tarnish the reputation of the dedicated staff members who show up to work everyday to have a positive impact on our students and their families. On behalf of the district, we respectfully request that any negative commentary on social media be either deleted or stop as such negative comments cast an unfounded negative light on the district, which is uncalled for.

Our priority remains the safety and support of our students, and we are committed to maintaining a learning environment where all members of our school community feel secure and respected. As the situation develops, the district will provide further information as we are legally permitted to do so.

We appreciate the community’s patience, understanding, and commitment to a fair and responsible process.
